Sarah: "She's ONE of US"

My slogan for Sarah 2012 is "Sarah . . . She's ONE of US." In heavily unionized Beaver County, two-to-one Democratic voter registration edge, Sarah drew a crowd of 10,000-plus. That is the biggest crowd ever to gather for anything in Beaver County and twice what Obama drew. (He was two hours late and then the campaign tried to stiff the police on overtime.)

Sarah's crowd was about half union people and union families, including many children who were very excited to see the irrepressible Piper (and Willow) Palin. In this Democratic, union-intensive county, McCain-Palin won by 4,000 votes. They also won ALL the small counties in western PA!!!! How would Mitt Romney or Mike Huckabee have done? Don't make me laugh.


I've been saying, "The Republican Party used to be the fat cats. Now, we're the alley cats." How do we get the Wal-Mart voters? As even Rush admitted, "We've already got them" Sarah, running against the candidate of "hope," gave something to the people they needed ... . hope for a better future, hope that their normal, middle class lives had meaning, hope that they really did have a woman who cared about them.

I was a "greeter" at the event. I got to the 7 p.m. event at 3:30 p.m., accompanied by two terrific young HBO people from San Francisco. who were doing a series on "America." I met them while I was wearing my Sarah tee-shirt ("Guns and God"). I told them people in SF and Beaver County did not "hate" each other.

I said we all needed some place to complain about. They said, "Yes!"

I noted we had a lot more in common than either group wanted to admit, as illustrated by the outpouring of support for the supposedly "hated" New York when 9/11 occurred. We had discovered that we, too, were "New Yorkers," and many EMTs, police, and fire fighters had gone to Manhattan to help out.

They had both decided, "Yeah, Sarah is the real deal." The young woman from HBO (Alexandra) was getting ready to take the red-eye back to SF, where she had waiting for her two little boys, ages two and one. She liked Sarah because she (like Alexandra) wanted to "have it all." I told her husband, Will, also young, how lucky he was to be married to Alex. He said, "Don't I know it. Don't I know it."

I was a greeter at the rally. I must have talked to and shaken hands with 500 people. It was an exhilarating trip into the Real America. These were good people. They loved their country, and they knew in their hearts that Sarah did also. When Sarah hit the stage (right on time), I learned the meaning of the word "pandemonium." She had a dark blue top and black slacks (see above).

One of the best days of my life. Come back again in 2010 and 2012, Sarah.

Is Sarah "The Real Deal?"

What makes Sarah run? Many things . . . Once Sarah said she would "run over" to her aunt's. The distance was 12 miles each way, and she finished the run in good time.

A TeamSarah friend asked me if Sarah Palin is "the real deal" -- or is she another one of those political disappointments that come along with depressing regularity? Also, what makes me believe she'd be a great President? Here's my answer:

I've read a lot about Sarah (pro and con) and been an observer of her for nearly two years. I believe she is most authentic -- the most real -- elected official I've ever encountered, which is saying a lot. Will you, or I, or anyone agree with her on every detail of every issue? I doubt that any two human being would fit that ideal.

People following Jesus generally either disagreed (remember what the rich man did when Christ asked him to sell all his goods and give the money to the poor?) or disappointed him (e.g., Peter).

I believe that, because of her character, values, and love of country, Sarah would make a great President. She has talked about the need for a real leader to "have a servant's heart." She does. I suggested that Sarah's campaign slogan should be, "Sarah . .. she's one of us."

Remember St. Paul's statement: "For all have sinned, all have fallen short of the glory of God." In her statement about the servant's heart, Sarah made the point that she's not perfect. No human being is, but she is truly a remarkable woman.

That's the main reason so many on the Left hate her. She's a threat to Obama's assumption that he will be re-elected. Maybe he will be, but I have a hunch that Sarah will win in 2012.

"She's one of us." Everyone, including our spouses and our children, disappoint us at some point, and I don't ask that Sarah act as if she were already an angel in heaven. Heck, we sometimes disappoint ourselves. But Sarah hasn't disappointed me yet.

Palin for President Movement Begins

Note: This is the launch of the effort to get Gov. Sarah Palin -- in 2012 -- a new home, the White House in Washington, DC. The following message is from Janet of the Read My Lipstick Network (RMLN), which I urge you to join.

Only a few short days to go before VICTORY! Every single vote matters and could be the one that puts us over the top. Make some phone calls! Find a rally! Send emails and blog, blog, blog.

On November 5th things in this country are going to change, and we need to be prepared to change, too. The focus of the Read My Lipstick Network has been to support Sarah Palin and to get our dynamic duo elected on Nov. 4th. We've also been working to promote conservative values, regardless of party affiliation.

Our voice is going to be all the more important the day after the election. Either we'll be supporting John McCain and Sarah Palin and will be working to get news out that the media won't cover, OR (hopefully not), we'll be working to preserve conservative values in our great country as the other guys undermine everything that has made our country free and prosperous.

Either way, it's going to be tough and your blogs and your voices will be critical in the coming years. I'm attaching two new logos we'll be using after the election rather than just the lips or the logos we've been using. If you have the blogroll on your site, you won't need to do anything, it will self update (as soon as we can get into it!). Plan to pop them up on Nov. 5th and connect them to http://www.readmylipsticknetwork.com/. The larger logo is perfect for the sidebar of most blogs, the other is a smaller version you may want to include elsewhere.

We would much prefer that you have the blogroll code on your blog (located here: http://rmlnblogroll.blogspot.com/), however some of you can't include blogrolls. Another potential issue some of us are discussing is that Google and Blogger are owned by a big supporter of Obama. It's a possibility that at some point we're going to have difficulty using their free system. Just something to think about!

We're setting up our Read My Lipstick Network website and should have it ready to roll right after the election (it will be http://www.readmylipsticknetwork.com/). We're also setting up a Ning site similar to http://www.teamsarah.org/, which may or may not take off, we'll see (it's free ;-). We're also connecting with some other great groups that are already gearing up to move forward after the election (how about this - some are planning to work toward electing Sarah Palin as President in 2012!).

I think that connecting with them will be a positive move for RMLN, don't you? After the election we ALL need to band together and keep on fighting the good fight. Maybe all the groups need to come up with one big umbrella name to ensure we're walking together and working clearly toward our common goals! Kind of like the fish symbol tells everyone that you're a Christian, maybe we need a similar symbol that connects the purpose and share the commonality of goals. Another thought for another day .

Right now, let's get John McCain and Sarah Palin elected and send Barack Obama back to the Senate. Obama has already said if he doesn't win on Tuesday he'll be back for the next election. We'll definitely need to be out there shoring up support for conservative values, 'cause they are going to attack, attack, twist and attack when he doesn't win.
