On the ridiculous "charges" against Gov. Palin that she was a diva and other nonsense. I wrote the following to a Texas friend who's a great supporter of Mike Huckabee . . . and Sarah Palin
Larry, three McCain Staffers came out today and said it was all B-S. On the "diva" charge, staffer Nicole Wallace said, "She once asked me for a can of diet soda." Schoenmann, the foreign policy expert said she was as smart, curious, and focused as anyone he'd ever encountered. Another staffer (Miss Stapleton?) also defended Sarah vigorously.
On my support of Sarah in 2012: It's so much easier to organize around a person than an issue or two. Fair tax won't draw a crowd, but Gov. Huckabee will.
It's so important that people who were devastated by the results on Nov. 4 have places to go -- and people to follow. Sarah is one of those people. She's not the only one, but she is now the biggest magnet.
Larry, I hope she and your political hero Mike Huckabee do a lot of talking over the next year-plus. The differences between them, if any, are minimal. Both have great appeal because they basically love humanity, warts and all.
I have tremendous respect for Mike. I wish we lived at a time when they could run together, but either of them would be a great President. They both have the capacity to live moral lives without coming across as holier-than-thou.
My friend and PA political analyst Rodger Morrow called Obama's win "a catastrophic victory." Today, BHO explained he had talked only to "living" Presidents. Is that what he meant by "change?"

For me, there is not much difference between Huckabee and Palin. There is no way they could run against each other because someone else would win after they split the vote.
For me, I would like to see Sarah wait a few years and try for a Senate seat after 2 terms as Governor. Then she would be unstoppable as a POTUS candidate.
Same goes for Bobby Jindal. I keep hearing his name as a possibility for 2012 but he is only 37 now. Why waste him so early?
2012 will be a very tough battle for the GOP, especially if Obama is even remotely successful. It will take someone like Huckabee to knock him out.

I credit Huckabee for changing his habits and improving his health in losing a lot of weight. Nevertheless, at first blush there's an enormous difference between Mike Huckabee.
But aside from the attractiveness of both her physical appearance and her bright personality, her manifest experience and history demonstrate someone with character, determination, and smarts. Still, if she had stewed in consideration of issues so as to explain in detail the urgencies and considerations of foreign policy or the economic merits of The Fair Tax, for example, she would be unstoppable, NOW. Huckabee also has a uniquely easygoing and constructive manner.
I think she can and will get there. Huckabee probably was not as keenly tuned 8 years ago, either. I tend to think she should finish at least one term and put that "no experience" crap to rest. Obviously this year was an exception, but historically, Senators are not the strongest presidential candidates. Neither do I think they are best suited. But, you are correct that they would distract from each other in electoral terms, especially if Romney's in there spending hundreds of millions.
Actually, conservative Republicans have a pretty strong bullpen. They should get together and strategize more for the good of the country than for personal ambition. I kinda think that might leave Romney out.
If Palin runs for President in 2012, at least she has name recognition going for her... but that may not work in her favor
